Dublin CA Real Estate & Dublin Homes For Sale

Dublin, California – Overview

Dublin California

Dublin is, in some ways, a city of contradictions. Settled in the late 19th Century, it first boomed in the nineteen fifties with a large number of small ranch home developments. Yet it never had a real downtown. Certainly there are strip shopping centers galore, but no real center.

Then the early 21st Century heralded a boom in residential development with what seems like hundreds of high rise condominiums as well as many detached single family home neighborhoods being built, mostly on the east side.

There are many parks in Dublin, and this, together with the multitude of new developments gives it the feel of a “New town”. The fact that Dublin has a BART station gives it a major advantage over its neighbors. San Francisco is in easy reach, and the commute to San Jose and Silicon Valley is bearable. Add in the fact that Dublin real estate prices are lower than those in surrounding cities, and everything falls into place.

from Wikipedia:

Dublin (formerly, Amador and Dougherty’s Station) is a suburban city of the East (San Francisco) Bay and Tri-Valley regions of Alameda County, California, United States. It is located along the north side of Interstate 580 at the intersection with Interstate 680, roughly 35 miles (56 km) east of downtown San Francisco, 23 miles (37 km) east of downtown Oakland, and 31 miles (50 km) north of downtown San Jose.

It was referred to as “Dublin” in reference to the city of Dublin in Ireland because of the large number of Irish who lived there. The post office formally adopted the name in the 1890s.

The population was 46,063 (2010 census), and the 2019 estimate at 64,826. In 2013, Dublin was the second fastest-growing city in the state of California, behind only Santa Clarita. In 2019, census data showed Dublin as one of the fastest growing cities in the country. Dublin was formerly home to the headquarters of Sybase, Inc (now part of SAP SE) and is currently home to the headquarters for CallidusCloud, Patelco Credit Union, Ross Stores, TriNet, Medley Health, Challenge Dairy and Arlen Ness.

In 2018, Dublin was ranked #7 in Money’s list of “The Best Places to Live”.
