Orinda, California – Overview

Although technically a city, Orinda seems more like a village to most people. This is undoubtedly a major part of its charm. Orinda straddles Highway 24, with the older Orinda Village on on the north side. The art deco Orinda Theatre is on the south side, as is the newer Theatre Square.

There is a surprising number of businesses here, many individually owned, yet the small town feel is maintained. Orinda homes are mostly from the nineteen fities and sixties but there is also a handful of newer neighborhoods, the most recent being the WIlder development. Orinda home prices are similar to those in Lafayette, and again, this is partly due to the fact that it has its own BART station providing fast access to San Francisco.
